]]> Announcements, Feedback, and News egrayfl https://nefas.space/announcements-feedback-and-news/urgent-request-for-volunteers-to-observe-asteroid-occultation-of-a-star-february-26-at-2157-february-27-0257/#post-251 URGENT Request for Volunteers to Observe Asteroid Occultation of a Star February 26 at 21:57 (February 27 02:57) https://nefas.space/announcements-feedback-and-news/urgent-request-for-volunteers-to-observe-asteroid-occultation-of-a-star-february-26-at-2157-february-27-0257/#post-248 Mon, 19 Feb 2024 17:03:24 +0000 We have received an urgent request from Estela Fernández-Valenzuela, Assistant Scientist at Florida Space Institute (UCF), for volunteers to observe the occultation of a star by asteroid Leonteus February 26 at 21:57 (February 27 02:57).  The star is magnitude 15 and the asteroid is magnitude 15.9.  The occultation duration is expected to be about 9 seconds.  You will need a CMOS camera, appropriate timing equipment and aperture allowing quick exposures.  I am attaching two files.  One is the note from  Estela Fernández-Valenzuela to the Aluchua Astronomy Club which was forwared to us.  The other is the attachment to that note with detailed information on the occultation.  Please respond to me ASAP if you can participate and have the needed equipment.
